Carpet Cleaning FAQ's

Q. What is the best type of carpet or rug to buy?

A.  This is a tricky question as everything is relative to price. The important thing is to inquire about the quality of the pile and fibers that make up the carpet. Various fibers have different qualities. Our experience is that natural fibers such as wool and other animal hair are more durable and look better for a longer period. However, these are usually very much more expensive than synthetic fibers. This does not mean that synthetic carpets won't satisfy you. They will, but nature is always the best.

Q. What carpet maintenance is required of the general householder?

A.  Regular vacuuming is highly recommended. Make sure to vacuum your carpets, upholstered and drapes at least once a week in order to keep abrasive dust particles down to a minimum. However, remember to ensure maximum removal of all harmful dust, mites and allergens, regular professional cleaning is essential.

Q. How can I remove stains and blotches from my expensive rugs and carpets?

A.  Many stubborn stains can be removed by wetting out the area and blotting up the stain. Care should be taken not to let the stain run onto a larger area. Always blot the wetted area with an absorbent paper towel or clean white cloth. Do not rub or brush as this can cause irreversible color running and pile damage as well as set the stain. Some stains cannot be removed using normal household cleansers. Do not treat stubborn stains with more vigorous mechanical action or potentially dangerous chemicals. Consult an expert. He will know what to do.

Q. I wish to lay down wall-to-wall carpets, but am afraid of high maintenance costs. Should this concern me?

A.  Once you have decided to make the investment and install wall-to-wall carpeting, you should be prepared for professional cleaning services at least once a year. While prima facie this seems to be an expensive proposition, it is far cheaper than replacing sections of your carpet that have suffered excessive wear and tear because abrasive dust particles were left on the carpet for too long a period of time. So, the answer is empathically NO! Protect your investment. It's worth it.

Q. What are the chances of my expensive Chesterfield suite getting damaged if I trust it to a cleaning company?

A.  Firstly, and most importantly, make sure that the company you choose has the professional; expertise to handle your requirements. Don't entrust your furniture to fly by night organizations, which offer ridiculously cheap services and come without any recommendations. Ask the company for recommendations and check them out. Upholstery cleaning requires using the right equipment and cleaning agents and wrongful applications will have disastrous results.
